Health & Safety

It is of paramount importance to Daytona Developments that all operatives on site return home unharmed at the end of each working day. This is a commitment that is shared by all members of the project team from managing director to project manager. In addition to being highly qualified and experienced construction managers, our project managers are qualified and well trained safety supervisors that keep safety at the forefront of every plan and activity on site. Our H&S record is blemish free with no reportable accidents in 18 years, no HSA notices nor prosecutions.

All new operatives to site are required to attend a safety induction session prior to commencing on site at which time they are made aware of the site safety rules and the project health & safety plan. They are required to present a valid Safe Pass card and relevant CSCS cards. Each subcontractor must produce a project specific safety method statement for their works and each member of their crew is required to have read and understood the method statement. The operatives are made aware of the minimum P.P.E. requirement and are expected to be provided with any additional P.P.E. relevant to their specific task.  The site is inspected regularly by the project manager and the integrated systems manager and any issues identified are addressed immediately. The project manager conducts daily site inspections while the integrated systems manager inspects weekly or fortnightly depending on the nature of the project. The IS manager reports directly to the project director who takes an active interest in project health & safety.

Prior to commencing an activity, the responsible supervisor will be expected to make an accurate risk assessment for the activity and prepare a task specific plan outlining the nature of the work involved, a step by step analysis from commencement to completion, the risks and mitigation measures involved, and the equipment and PPE necessary for the safe execution of the activity. Each operative involved in the activity will be required to read and sign the task plan confirming that they have read and understood the procedures and methodology. These are kept on file and at the point of work for ease of reference. Only full compliance with documented plans is tolerated and any changes to a documented plan must be subject to the same risk assessment rigours of the original document.

Daytona Developments engage the independent services of HSS Safety Consultancy to successfully act as PSCS and safety auditors to the project. HSS work alongside the project manager and IS manager to supervise and monitor the implementation of the high standard of safety expected on every Daytona Developments project. Our safety record to date is exemplary and it is the full intention of the team to ensure that the record remains unblemished on each and every new project undertaken.
